SUSTAINABLE FASHION COMPETITION

NARRATIVE

We think that fashion design and architecture are art forms with different purposes but have same objectives to represent the peoples’ aesthetic values in that era, there are many inspirations that can be came from anywhere in the world, such as culture, history events that arise as topics that we tend to reflect them, through fashion designs and architecture.

As an art form that not just attracting, fashion design can be a medium that convey a designated message to people who see and interact with the design, though their making process and the materials as the components of the garments. Therefore, participants who are the future architects are encouraged to create fashion designs to explore more ideas in different perspectives, revealing more opportunities to inception of new art forms in architecture.

THEME

Designs should draw inspiration from the provided storyline, capturing the spirit of resilience, defiance, and hope that characterizes the dystopian narrative. Participants should study the characteristics of dystopian and give the design related to narrative elements. The design which can show the narrative element through material, colour, shape.

Explore how fashion can serve as a vehicle for social change and empowerment, echoing the clandestine gatherings and underground galleries of the rebel movement. The fashion design can symbolize the spirit and give the morale for social confrontation dystopian.

Eligibility

1. Limited to one entry per institution

2. Joint production with other institutions is prohibited.

Requirement:

Theme Interpretation of characteristic of dystopian:

Every institution are required to design a female and a male costume.
Design should be related to running off from dystopian and using the material, colour, shape, form to explain the design. Design also captures the spirit of resilience, defiance, and hope that characterizes the dystopian narrative.
Participants are encouraged to explore how fashion can serve as a vehicle for social change and empowerment, echoing the clandestine gatherings and underground galleries of the rebel movement.

Sustainable Practices:

Participants must prioritize sustainability in their designs, utilizing eco-friendly materials and ethical production methods.
Garments or accessories should incorporate recycled or upcycled materials wherever possible, reflecting the resourcefulness and ingenuity of the rebels in the dystopian world.

Innovation and Creativity:

Designs should demonstrate originality, creativity, and technical proficiency in both concept and execution.
Participants are encouraged to experiment with unconventional materials and techniques, pushing the boundaries of sustainable fashion design while staying true to the theme of resilience.

Design Statement:

Submissions must include a brief narrative or description that contextualizes the design within the dystopian storyline provided.
Participants should articulate how their designs embody the themes of resilience, rebellion, and transformation, weaving elements of the narrative into their creative vision.

PRESENTATION

Participants must present their designs and narratives in a visually compelling and cohesive manner right after the opening ceremony session during the catwalk session.
