PARALLEL WORKSHOP

The workshops encourage participants to improve their architecture and construction skills. The activities are carried out at the same time and allow participant to choose their desire skill learning.

Date: Day 4 
Time: 9.00am – 12.00pm
Venue: area around Dewan Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik

This workshop introduces participants traditional bamboo joinery techniques, including lashing and dowel methods. The participants will be divided into groups of 4 members each. During instructional phase, a video tutorial will guide participants through the joinery process. Then, every groups will practice lashing techniques using pre-cut bamboos and rope. During the final hour, 8 groups will collaborate to assemble a larger bamboo sculpture using the completed joineries.

Paper, Pencil, Marker, Cutter

2. SKETCHING (ARCHITECTURAL SKETCH / URBAN SKETCH)

In sketching workshop, the participants will explore architectural and urban sketching techniques using various mediums, including watercolors and dry mediums. The instruction will be provided through video tutorials covering both urban and architectural sketching. The workshop will conclude with a 30-minute online Q&A session for further clarification and discussion.

Materials / Tools by Participants: Pencil, Eraser, Technical pen, Colour marker, Dry colour pastel, White colour pen, Watercolour and brushes

3. BAMBOO LANTERN

Throughout this workshop, participants will collaborate in group to create and design a bamboo lantern The participants will be distributed into groups of 3 students each. Each group will assemble a lantern using pre-cut bamboo provided. The participants can customized the lanterns by rattan weaving, carving or colouring.

INCEPTION provided: Pre-cut bamboo, Natural jute rope, LED light bulb, Sand paper, Electric drill
