
BUILDING STRUCTURE COMPETITION

Fundamentally, architecture is about designing spaces that evoke emotions, inspire thinking and represent the ideals and goals of a community. It is not only about building structures. It is a mode of expression that creates designs that are visually beautiful, sustainable, and functional by fusing technical know-how with creative vision.
Participants are required to design and build a structure called “Time Freezing Tunnel”. The structure is to create a space for users to slow down and submerge into the enjoyment of the site’s natural beauty.
Suggested Features:

Provide shading and ventilation

Contain one interactive function. Example: Joy Reading Space, Resting (Lepak), Conversation etc.

Max. of use: 2 person.

A viewing frame to capture and freeze the beautiful natural landscape around the site.

Max. Size: 2m (width) x 2m (length) x 3m (height)
Every university/institution is required to use 70% of natural material such as timber, bamboo, natural stone, alang-alang or atap to build the structure. Other 30% can consist of manmade material such as steel, aluminum or glass/acrylic board.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
1. Each institution only limits to submit 1 artwork for consideration.
2. All submission must be sent physically to the campus on event day.

NARRATIVE
Presentation is a vital aspect to express the innovation and creativity of arts. The presenters may show their artworks in various methods and techniques to attract the audiences. Thus, presentation plays a crucial role to shape the audience’s experience, influencing their interpretation of the artwork. The communication may effectively convey the designer’s intentions and establish a meaningful connection with the audience.
REQUIREMENT

Each institute required to send only 1 person to present about the design concept, design element and design features of the structure.
